2nd Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on the Practical and Technical Implementation of the PCC Prüm Agreement – Automated Exchange of DNA Data

Ljubljana, 13-15 December 2023 - The second meeting of the thematic working group (TWG), organised under the auspices of the Serbian PCC SEE Chairmanship-in-Office and in cooperation with the elected Romanian TWG Chair, brought together key national DNA and IT experts from the PCC SEE Contracting Parties.  The meeting built on the discussions held during the previous meeting in June 2023 and focused on specific technical and organisational aspects of automated DNA data exchange, as well as looked at the evaluation procedure that a non-EU Signatory of the PCC Prüm Agreement must first undergo before becoming operational.

Paired with an EU Contracting Party, the non-EU Contracting Parties engaged in self-evaluations to assess their status in the area of automated DNA data exchange. Drawing on the assistance and practical insights of the operative EU Contracting Parties, they took note of important considerations and steps to take at national level, leveraging the support and hands-on experience provided by the EU Contracting Parties in their own processes. This group work aimed to enhance knowledge transfer and collaboration to assist the non-EU Contracting Parties in aligning practices with established standards and becoming ready for operational exchange of DNA data pursuant to the PCC Prüm Agreement.

Chaired by Slovenia from 01 January to 30 June 2024 / Next Chairmanship (1 July - 31 December 2024) by Albania
