Conference on Crisis Management and Democratization in the Balkan Region


The International Training and Civilian Crisis Management Centre of the Ministry of Justice and Law Enforcement of Hungary in cooperation with the United Nations Association of Hungary and the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces organised the Conference on Crisis Management and Democratization in the Balkan Region which took place on 28 May 2010 in Budapest, Hungary.

The International Training and Civilian Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Justice and Law Enforcement has gained significant experiences in the field of international missions. Experts trained at the Center have been successful in various regions of the world in crisis management and the establishment of new democratic structures. The personnel of the center consist of experts and leaders who are experienced not only in training, but who have also proved in a number of missions their competence in problem solving in the field. The main objective of the conference was to process the experiences gained and to lay down the foundations required to meet new challenges ahead.

This conference is part of a program series, the purpose of which is to create a theoretical and methodological background for the extended civilian crisis management tasks of the Center.

At the conference the DCAF complex Border Security Programme in the Balkan Region which started in 2001, the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe and achievements in both fields were presented to the participants.
