Workshop on national coordination and regional cooperation in counter-terrorism matters in SEE

Implementation of effective national coordination and regional cooperation strategies to counter terrorism was in focus of a high-level workshop targeting countries of South East Europe, which took place in Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 27-28 October 2010. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) Secretariat.

The purpose of the workshop was to bring together representatives from SEE countries and representatives of international, regional and sub-regional organisations and mechanisms in order to explore ways to enhance their cooperation and coordination in counter-terrorism matters. Participants from SEE countries presented their national counter-terrorism strategy, national counter-terrorism coordination mechanism, mechanism for sharing of information and the relationship between the national counter-terrorism coordination mechanism and bilateral, regional and international partners. They also outlined the areas for improvement and make recommendations for the future activities.

On behalf of PCC SEE Secretariat Mr. Stanislav Veniger attended the meeting where he presented the PCC SEE under the title “Regional perspectives on national cooperation and regional cooperation”, highlighting that PCC SEE is an effective and efficient tool for police cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism matters as well as that it represents a legal frame for police cooperation among the Contracting Parties for exchange of data and information.
