Vienna, Austria - The 3rd Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on JIT Expert Network, convened under the auspices of the Macedonian Chairmanship-in-Office with support from the PCC SEE Secretariat, took place on 17 and 18 September in Vienna, Austria. The meeting brought together representatives of the national law enforcement and judiciary authorities from the PCC SEE Contracting Parties with competencies in the area of Joint Investigation Teams (JITs).

The participants shared information and practical advice based on experience gained from JITs/parallel investigations and discussed technical and legal obstacles encountered in JITs where a non-EU MS country was involved. They also received valuable information from EUROPOL, EUROJUST and CEPOL on the agencies’ support available to both EU MS and aspiring EU Candidate countries. The observer agencies also presented the recent developments concerning JITs.

Part of the meeting was dedicated to operational discussions concerning pending investigations in the PCC SEE Contracting Parties and the work methodology of the TWG for the upcoming period, thus further enhancing the cooperation and communication among the law enforcement and judicial authorities.
