Meeting of Representatives of PCC SEE Contracting Parties on the Establishment of Common Centres for Police (and Customs) Cooperation

On 6 April 2011, the PCC SEE Secretariat convened a meeting of Representatives of PCC SEE Contracting Parties on the Establishment of Common Centres for Police (and Customs) Cooperation. In attendance were representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia, as well as from Austria, Italy, France, Slovenia, Switzerland and the International Organisation for Migration. The objective of the meeting was to receive an insight into the development and progress in the area of common centres and agree on the methods of approach with regard to the project proposal on the establishment of a Common Centre for Police (and Customs) Cooperation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Overall, the participants agreed that establishing common centres for police cooperation is an effective and efficient way of increasing cross-border police cooperation and the partners in the PCC SEE implementation process offered their full support in the area of establishing common centres through exchange of know-how and expertise. Furthermore, France has offered to assist in organising study visits for the Contracting Parties with the aim of enabling insight into the functioning and daily activities of such centres. The Contracting Parties were advised to discuss issues related to establishing a common centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as none yet exists, with their colleagues and inform the PCC SEE Secretariat regarding their positions, whereas Italy and EUPM remain responsible for monitoring EC calls for funding.
